When our kids are home sick from school, it takes a toll on the creative juices. Fortunately for Kevin and I, we work from home and our jobs allow for spontaneous freedom. This morning my sniffly but visionary step-daughter Djuna (joon-a) told me she was going to help me make an autumn inspiration board. I immediately went to my computer to show her images and she told me that was not how it was going to be done. Bossy huh? {She is quite the burgeoning party planner around here.} Her design included a walk down the street to gather fallen leaves, water-coloring a log cabin bird house, arranging the white birch logs from the fireplace, drawing a fall tree illustration, and arranging paper leaves in perfect form. {she went a little overboard with the use of scotch tape, but I hated to interrupt her magic.} My heartstrings were humming when I saw how seriously she took the project. Look at the textures, the composition, and the thoughtful eye. I was delighted with the results. So much so that it may remain a family room installation for the rest of autumn. {or at least a few days until she tires of it}
Proud is an understatement. Kevin and I are happily enjoying a little sick day in our pajamas watching the creative juices flow in our children, instead of us.
