Wedding Wednesday - Sloan Me

I never liked blue + yellow together until I saw it through Sloan Photog's eyes. These images made the standard hotel wedding pop with life + originality. The bride's dress is one of the coolest I've seen + I'm always a sucker for homemade jam, chuck T's, + vinyl records. Enjoy more of this goodness here.

B.E.E.s KNEEs - Johnny Miller

I'm a bit of a food snob. Avid restaurant goer, lover of butter, farmers market troller, gourmet prepared morsels make me smile. The hubs and I hosted a dinner party Sunday night {complete with dinner trivia} and I was perusing the cyber foodie files for table inspiration. He's no new comer, but Johnny Miller breaks my heart with his photography. Had to give him a BK badge. His images are comforting and spare with a sophisticated pulse.

Young Onion Tart with Applewood Smoked Bacon + Gruyere. Heirloom Tomato Sorbet with Tomato Tartare, Basil Oil + a Garlic Tuile. Braised Beef Short Ribs with Port reduction over Potato Puree on top of Chive Oil. Roasted Cauliflower with Walnut Oil + Parmesan. Homemade Salty Chocolate Ice Cream with Shortbread.

Willow + Jamie

Willow + Jamie, a true family affair. They got married at her parents Theatricum Botanticum in Topanga California, founded by her grandfather Will Geer. Thespians gathered at the theatre for an open mic reception filled with funny and heartwarming songs, a marzipan berry cake by the groom's best friend complete with a playful handcrafted cake-topper, a dessert table filled with homemade goodies from loved ones, and a disco ball hanging from the old oak trees high above the stage. The bride's request: broccoli, brussel sprouts, eggplant, cauliflower, kale, and colorful wildflower centerpieces. {I saw one guest nibbling on an asparagus stem straight from the centerpieces}. The ceremony was held in the herb garden where her grandfather is buried, and the bride walked into She's A Bad Mamma Jamma by Stevie Wonder. The maids dresses were all dyed themselves and the bride's dress was made by the theatre's costume designer. Outdoor photo booth complete with costumes, guests lounging under the stars in the amphitheater bleachers, and fairy lights twinkling.

Willow

Slowly but surely, the photos from Willow + Jamie's Theatricum wedding are coming in. More later today... but I had to share her dress with you. Handmade by her costume designer at the theatre. I heart thespians!

Yes, I realize Autumn just hit. But I saw the most capturing photo of a frozen river over at my girl Native Kee's blog + it got stuck in my head so I went with it. Besides, shouldn't we be making inspiration boards for the next season? Because I'm planning a winter wedding right now, + I was planning the autumn weddings this summer, + I was planning my summer wedding in the spring. Hmmmm.

Sneak Peek - 100th Seaside Birthday Bash

Here is a little sneak peek of a few details from the event on Saturday. 150 kids, 200 adults all gathered at the beach for a {combined} 100th birthday bash. It was a spectacular day. Weather gorgeous, kiddos cooling off on the dolphin water slide, adults feasting on chicken + mango salad, sipping pina coladas, caribbean band banging on the steel drums, giant sand castle making, seaside spa treatments, laughter galore. Adult tables were set with textured linen and seashell cloths + fresh fruit floral centerpieces that guests took home. Kids had fun watching live goldfish swim on their tables + 32 lucky kids {limbo + dance contest winners} took home the fish bowls as prizes. Dessert table was oh so oceany + delicious {my fave was the homemade oreos and the blue cream soda ice cream floats}. All the decorations were donated to the guest of honor's preschool for their upcoming fundraiser. Many more images to come + see a few more over at charley star.
